On 21st October 2007, Adrian Clark, Tim Ives, Jim Huggins and Paul Wilkin took part in "Walk Around the World", as part of International Brain Tumour Awareness Week; a global event, organised by the International Brain Tumour Alliance. The target is for volunteers, from across the globe, to take part in sponsored walks totalling 24,901 miles, which is the circumference of the earth at the equator.

Our small contribution was to walk 42 miles, overnight, from Oxted to Farnham, along the North Downs Way. After some initial navigational difficulties (running across 6 lanes of the M23 included), footwear issues and a few bat and owl-related incidents.....we finally arrived at our destination after 16 hours. Special thanks must go to Chris Higgins and Howard Ives, who met us en route, and supplied copious quantities of tea, coffee, food and moral support!

Towards the end of our walk, we were joined by Emma Dunnett, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in November 2006, and has undergone surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment at theRoyalMarsdenHospital. A few of Emma's friends also joined us for the final 10 miles, making up a total contribution of 212 miles to this great cause.

Emma's Appeal was launched in March 2007, the first event involved Adrian and Jim "running" in the Reading Half Marathon.

On 11th May, the inaugural running of the "Emma's Appeal Stakes" took place at Wimbledon Dog Track......! Emma was there to present the trophy to the winning owner.

"3 PEAKS, 5 FREAKS" - On 1st June 2007,  Adrian, Jim, Tim and Paul were joined by Chris Higgins and undertook the "3 peak challenge".

This gruelling (and, some would say, foolish) challenge involved reaching the summit of the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales, all in a 24 hour period - including travelling approx 500 miles between them....

We are delighted to report that Emma has now received the all-clear and completed her treatment a full year after her initial diagnosis.

Emma has asked that any sponsorship raised be split between the SDBTT and the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign.

So, for Emma and the many thousands like her, who rely so heavily on the wonderful work undertaken by organisations such as these, please give as generously as you can.

THANK YOU!!!!!!
