Knowing where to start is extremely hard. How can you explain one very special person in just a few sentences? I will try my best.

Lucy was diagnosed with secondry lung cancer in October 2008. The primary source could not be located. At the age of 29, a non smoker and a healthy and fit young women this seemed so unfair, Even now its hard to explain. Within days of starting chemotheray Lucy was in intensive care given only days to live....but true to form she proved them wrong and within hours was showing her fighting spirit and positivity to prove the doctors wrong.

Within weeks she was allowed home and went from strength to strength. She didn't let the cancer get her down and was out and about treating life as normally as she could. Take away the wheel chair and oxygen tank and you would never guess anything was wrong. Not for one moment did she believe this disease was going to take her life.

By christmas she was breathing unaided and suprised us all the time with her improvements. Always smiling and joking, that was Lucy. During these months we had many trips out and I am so lucky to have some amazing memories. Lucy always had the ability to make the best out of everything, to make the most of every day and to love life. Such an inspiration to everyone. A true legend.

Sadly Lucy deteriorated almost it seemed over night, at the end of January 2009 she lost her battle, only 4 months are being diagnosed. We didn't see it coming. Her optimism and positive outlook made it impossible to think she wouldn't win her fight to cure herself of the disease. The world lost an amazing girl on 31st January this year, her family lost an incredible daughter and sister, and I lost one of the best friends anyone could ask for.

In memory of Lucy I ask you to donate to St Peters and St James hospice. Lucy spent her final hours here and it is such a special place. As it is completely reliant on donations I know it is very important to fund such a place. It is local to many of us and I am sure the majority of you may know someone who too spent their last moments at this hospice.

I will be enetering a few charity events also this year that will contribute towards my target I hope.  A half marathon in June and a fun run organised by the hospice in Sept....plus many more throughout the year. Please give generously in memory of someone so very special.

Thank you for taking the time to read and donate.

Best wishes and much love

Em xx
