I will be taking part in the Islamic Relief Everest challenge in November 2008 to raise money for orphans worldwide. The challenge requires me to endure a strenuous expedition consisting of a 2 week trek reaching an altitude of 27500 feet. I have already started my training regime which becomes more intense closer to the time of the expedition.
Why am I doing this???
Many of us are very fortunate to have our parents. Losing one or both parents is traumatic for any child in any situation. In countries where war, famine or poverty are a part of everyday life, millions of children are orphaned and left to struggle for survival.
Your donations will contribute to the Orphans General Fund which supports orphans in several ways including:
- Education
- Medical care
- Shelter
- Income generation (small business loans, livestock,etc)
- Courses in language, literacy, cooking, sewing, etc
- Fun outings and festive gifts
- Summer camps
- School Equipment
- Ramadan and Qurbani food baskets
Can we bring a smile back to a child's face? I think we can. Do a good deed....help a child in need!!!
