BRAC UK is a member of BRAC (Building Resources Across Communities) - www.brac.net - which is the largest Southern NGO in the world first started in Bangladesh just after it's war of independence in 1971 with the main aim of alleviating poverty and creating real sustainable development solutions. It's also one of the only NGOs to come from the economic South to the North as it also operates in the United States. Its worldwide operations in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Southern Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Liberia, Sierra Leone, the UK and US, include a range of holistic programmes in economic and social development, health, education, human rights and legal services.
So here's the pitch: The nice people at BRAC UK have asked me to help raise some money for them as part of the Porishod programme and to go towards sponsoring me. By donating your money, you'll not only be helping me provide much-needed quality training at BRAC's facilities in Bangladesh - a small but meaningful step towards making Bangladesh a true worldwide trading partner without needing donor aid in the long run - but you'll also be helping out BRAC UK's work!
