The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was launched at Sherborne Castle in March 2000, and has already flown over 3850 missions, it is based at Henstridge Airfield which is located on the border of Somerset and Dorset. It is funded largely by voluntary donations.

With a number of A&E hospitals facing closure, increasingly congested roads and remote inaccessible places within our county it is especially important to have an Air Ambulance able to attend the scene of an accident quickly.
