We are 9 colleagues who have joined together to help raise money and awareness for brain tumours.

We were made aware of this devastating condition when our colleague Andy’s son, Taylan was diagnosed at the age of just 6 with a brain tumour.  Despite every effort made by Andy and his family, Taylan sadly passed away aged 7 on 19 August 2009, just 10 months after diagnosis.   The family remain devastated after such a loss, yet frustrated that there was no cure for this illness or any promising treatment available.

Taylan’s family set up “Taylan’s Project” and became an umbrella group of Brain Tumour Research. All money raised goes directly into research to fund world class brain tumour research programmes and projects in the UK to help find a cure.  Please visit http://www.taylansproject.com/ to read more about Taylan’s story and the projects that the charity undertakes to raise funds and awareness.

On 25 July, we will take part in the 57 mile London to Cambridge bike ride, in memory of Taylan and to raise money for “Taylan’s Project”, which we need your assistance with. We need your help to raise vital funds and awareness for brain tumours in the hope that we can help other families in the future.

The facts are shocking.  Brain tumours are now the biggest cancer killer in the UK under the age of 40 and in children, with over 16,000 new cases each year.  Yet research into brain tumours receive less than 1% of the national spend on cancer research.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and please give generously, so we can all work together to find a cure for this disease.
