"I will be taking part in a challenge walk called
Where Ravens Dare, which covers 26.6 miles with a total climb of 5708 feet (1740m), to be completed within 10 hours.
iTeams is engaged around the world, in working with vulnerable people, including refugees, victims of trafficking, street children, people with disabilities and special needs and deprived communities. Our work is done by self-funded volunteers, who commit themselves (from 2 years to the foreseeable future) to serving these people - which also involves moving home and family to live where they serve. From our UK home base, we support our volunteers’ administrative, practical, personal, publicity and fund-raising needs. Most importantly, we also provide pastoral oversight which includes periodic visits to them. This oversight has been proved to be one of the key elements of support for field workers.
Through this challenge walk, I'm seeking to raise at least £3000 towards our budget of £5000 for the next 12 months, that will allow us to make the vital field visits. The work of our volunteers and hence the people they serve, will be greatly benefited as they themselves are encouraged, helped and supported by our visits. Your donation to this cause, will multiply itself in the effectiveness of those who work with vulnerable people.
Any support, however given, will be most welcome. You may wish to contribute now or to pledge some money on completion. If so, please email me at "erik.fok(at)iteams.org” to let me know your pledge. If you would like to give per mile/km (or foot/m) climbed we will let you know afterwards what I completed including if, for any reason, I didn’t finish the challenge.
Thank you for reading this and for your support."
