Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the 2012 Virgin London Marathon on April 22nd 2012 to raise both money and awareness for the charity APEC (Action on Pre-ecclampsia.) It is a relatively small charity that is struggling to raise the required funds

This charity has a close meaning to my family as my wife had pre-eclampsia with our first daughter Jessica who was just 3 pounds 11 ounce when she was born in 2002 and then had the condition again with our second daughter Erin who was born asleep in 2005.

APEC were very supportive to us during our difficult time both providing us with information and wonderful medical & emotional support when we both needed it most. APEC also support thousands of other families and medical staff who are affected by pre-eclampia, they also raise awareness through the education of women and medical staff on the dangers of this life threatening condition. They also support research into this dangerous disease for which there is no known cure as it is still not fully understood. The condition affects one in ten pregnancies and every year in the over 500 babies and up to 6 mothers die due to this condition which is still not fully understood.

I hope you can understand my wanting to raise money for this very important charity and would be very grateful of any sponsorship or donation you would be able to give.

Thankyou

Richard
