The Community Foundation for Surrey is an independent charitable trust. It aims to improve the lives of people in Surrey by raising the level of charitable giving and making sure that this money goes to where it is really needed.

Story

The Esher Neighbourhood Fund is supporting the Lower Green Community Development Project.

Elmbridge regularly hits the top spot of best places to live in the UK, however the Community Foundation for Surrey's report ,'Hidden Surrey', showed that there are some pockets of disadvantage in the local area and highlighted some worrying statistics about these needs.

The Esher Neighbourhood Fund has been set up by local residents in partnership with the Community Foundation. It is the first Fund of its kind for the local area and will enable residents to give to directly support need in their immediate community. It aims to raise a target of £150,000 which, over time, will help support a range of of local community causes. Examples of how this could help include training for local mums to achieve NVQ qualifications and better equip them for future job prospects; a drop in centre for families in the summer holidays; and the funding for a food bank to help people cope at times of real crisis.

Excitingly, this permanent Fund has attracted Challenge Match Funding through the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) together with the Big Lottery. This means that, for every £2 you give, the Community Foundation can match this with a further £1!

Your donation could make a big impact on people in the Esher neighbourhood. Please help us to build this signficant Fund and help to make Esher a better place for everyone who lives here.
