Dear all,
As you will know if you have made it to this page, on the 5th April this year I will be donning my running shoes and running the Paris Marathon.
I have chose to run for the Tom ap Rhys Pryce Memorial Trust. Tom, a family friend was robbed and killed on 12 January 2006 as he walked home from Kensal Green underground station. He was 31 years old and was due to marry his fiance, Adele in September of that year. In the wake of his murder, Tom's parents, Adele and Linklaters LLP (the law firm at which Tom worked) set up a registered charity, in the form of a trust as a memorial to Tom.
Tom was a beneficiary of educational funding for which he was always grateful and one of the goals of the Tom ap Rhys Pryce Memorial Trust is therefore to provide educational and vocational training opportunities to disadvantaged children and young people which they would otherwise be unlikely to receive, in the hope that they too can achieve their potential and lead rewarding lives. Another goal is to help tackle the root causes of violent gang culture and violent street crime. In this way the donations made to Tom's Trust are being used to ensure that as much good as possible comes out of Tom's tragic and senseless death.
In a world which is full of sensless violence and crime, this charity confronts hate with love. Its a charity that means a lot to me...
And so battling the cold, wind and rain, I am training 5 times a week (!) to make the possiblity of running 26.2 miles a reality...
Please give generously... every little helps, and it will spur me on to run the course.
Thanks in advance,
Esther
