Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Despite saying that I wouldn't ride the Etape this year I've been asked to be part of the BT Challenge team, a team of 28 amateur road cyclists, who are riding part of the legendary Tour De France cycle race

Having helped me and the team raise over £80 000 for the MS Society last year, I decided to be a little less ambitious this time round!

This year we are raising funds for Childline.

On Monday 11 July, the team  will cycle an etape (stage) of this year’s race through the stunning French alpine scenery to the summit of the iconic L’Alpe d’Huez, a true classic of cycle racing.

Starting out from Modane Valfrejus, the 109km route climbs the 1566m Col du Telegraphe and 2556m Col du Galibier on route.  The final climb to L’Alpe d’Huez starts in Bourg d’Oisans at 723m and is an ascent of 12km which includes 21 hairpin bends before they get to 1850m summit.

The Etape gives amateur cyclists a chance to ride a full stage of the Tour de France, often the hardest stage of the race, to see how they compare to the pros

So please dig deep and donate now.

thanks

Lee

ChildLine is the UK's free and confidential, 24 hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Children call ChildLine about a wide range of problems, but the most common problems are abuse (both sexual and physical), bullying, serious family tensions, worries about friends' welfare and teenage pregnancy. Children and young people can call ChildLine about anything – no problem is too big or too small. ChildLine is a service provided by the NSPCC
