My story

I'm the kind of person who needs goals in order to keep in shape. I find that if i have nothing to aim for then i tend to sit back and watch the world go by.

For this reason i've decided to compete in a few runs during to keep me busy with training during the summer months. I've entered the Sydney Half Marathon on the 20th Sepember and the Royal Parks half marathon on the 11th October which is being held in London. The next day i will travel to Istanbul to compete in the Eurasia Marathon which is being held on October 18th.

Why Istanbul? Well, i found out that there is only one day a year where you can cross from Asia to Europe on foot and this happens to be the day! The Bosphorus bridge is simply awesome and to be able to run over it in the knowledge that you only have 41km left to go should be a great feeling. Maybe.

As well as my obvious physical goals, i've decided to raise money for UNICEF along the way. £550 is a relatively small amount on paper but UNICEF will put it to great use. Please help me reach this total by donating what you can. Any amount will be so gratefully received and will help me concentrate on what i need to do......keep fit!

UPDATE: 20th September. I've just finished the Sydney half marathon today in a time of 1 hour 41 minutes. I've picked up a cold in the last few days so running at a fast pace took its toll on my lungs but i'm really happy overall with the time. Training was tough as i've spent the last three weeks in the Snowy mountains whilst photographing snowboarding, there's been a lot of hill training involved!

UPDATE: 12th October. Last week was a hectic one with me travelling from Australia to England, running a half marathon and then heading out to Istanbul. I ran the Royal Parks half marathon yesterday with a leisurely 1 hour 57 in preparation for the marathon this week. I made my way out to Istanbul this morning and its HOT! there's talk of the temperatures decreasing and maybe bringing rain. Who knows what will come around later in the week. Its relaxing time for now though!
