Les Europonces are skiing the BCV 24hours Villars challenge (again!)Some of you might remember that there were a group of friends collectively known as 'Les Europonces', known for their European style and eccentricities. They lacked the fear gene and loved doing crazy things on skis :)
Well, they are back! Evelyn, Antoine, Ben, Can, James and John are combining skiing skills with a worthy cause this January to take part in the fun (and slightly insane!) 24-hour amateur race in the Swiss resort of Villars!
From Saturday 16th overnight through to Sunday 17th January 2010, we will be continually skiing the mountain. It's a relay, so while one is skiing, the others will be found in support mode - cheerleading, snoozing, soaking up the sun (?!) or resisting the temptation of mulled wine.
Last year, we raised over £1,700 for charity and covered over 300kms of skiing. We hope to beat both targets this year.
The charity we are supporting this year is Disability Snowsport UK. DSUK is a people-centred organisation with a unique sense of purpose: that anyone regardless of their disability can take part in and enjoy the thrill of snowsport. For nearly 30 years they have applied exceptional know-how and adaptability to enable those with a disability to experience the joy of skiing alongside the able-bodied. They provide exciting and life enhancing activities for individuals or groups who require adaptive equipment and/or special instruction and support.
Please help us, as every penny we raise will go to them (we are paying for all of our own costs).
