Story

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page:-

At just 8 weeks old Evie was diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA). DBA is a rare blood condition where the bone marrow fails to produce red blood cells, because of this Evie is having blood transfusions every 5 weeks to bring her red blood cell count up to an acceptable level. At just 7 months old Evie has already had 5 blood transfusions. Evie is currently taking a course of steroids which can stimulate a response in the bone marrow and instigate red cell production; if this treatment fails to work she may need to have a bone marrow transplant in the future.

The condition is extremely rare with only 125 known cases in the UK and 700 worldwide. It requires intensive therapy, and has no known cure.

Evie is life dependent on blood that she receives from donors, blood is something we all expect to be there when we need it yet only 4% of people in the UK give blood. If it wasn’t for the generosity of donors Evie wouldn’t be alive today so please do something amazing and give blood.

On 7th July Evie’s daddy is doing a sponsored 1000 hole in one day golf challenge which involves 10 golfers playing 100 holes each in 1 day, they will tee off at 4am and they aim to be finished for 10pm. This is a huge test of golf skills and also endurance.

DBA is only a small charity and could be easily lost amongst so many larger and high profile campaigns. We would really appreciate if you can donate any amount small or large towards a worthwhile and very unsupported charity. Your support is greatly appreciated and even the smallest donation can make a big difference.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - We raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please chip in for charity!
