In August I am planning a cycling trip from Montreux, Switzerland to my home town of Edinburgh. I will be leaving from St. Georges school where I am currently working. I will be riding out of Switzerland through France, Luxembourg, Bruges in Belgium, up to Amsterdam in Holland, I will then take the Hook of Holland ferry over to Harwich and then ride through UK to finish my trip at Edinburgh Castle. This is a total of at least 2000km (1250 miles). I am doing this as a sponsored event for a L'Esperance orphanage in Rwanda. I will be visiting and working for L'Esperance in June.

Only 19 years ago in Rwanda a genocide killed around 800 000 to 1 000 000 people in the short space of 100 days. This has left thousands of parentless children who were taken into orphanages to be taken care of. The Rwandan government are now ready to begin the process of becoming orphanage- free and closing most orpahanages in Rwanda. Many orphans either do not know their families or no longer have a family to go to. With the plan of closing orphanages there is a huge challenge to secure these childrens safety and future.

L'Esperance Orphanage plans to keep themselves self sufficiant and run without government funding. This will allow the kids to stay there, keep a steady education and also feel safe living in a loving environment.

The orphanage has an incredibly inspiring story so please give as generously as you can. All the money donated will go to the orphanage, help them start their local businesses and become self sufficient. Any donations will not only give me a huge boost to complete my journey but could also potentially change the lives and futures of these children.
