My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm fundraising for the AV Foundation's amazing work in Sub Saharan Africa, where they provide basic needs for communities and schools like shelter, drinking water facilities and electricity through solar power.

This page isn't just for one event, it's for 25! I've set myself the large task of travelling 1000 miles twenty-five different ways. Throughout the project I hope to cross the three main oceans, reach both poles and travel the equivalent distance of the Earth's circumference, without a motor!

Please dig deep and support a wonderful cause, your support makes all the pain and blisters worthwhile!

AV Foundation

Charity Registration No. 1069099

The AV Foundation is an educational charity supporting rural schools in Africa, Asia and Latin America. It was established by the volunteering organisation Africa & Asia Venture ("AV") to help enhance the quality of school education in the communities served by AV volunteers.
Our fundraising efforts are focused around one project per year in each country where AV operates. Projects involve providing new or refurbished school classrooms, libraries, washrooms and kitchens; supplying books, teaching materials and sports equipment; financing teachers' costs and training expenses, as well as selectively financing pupil subsidy schemes or bursaries.

AV's strength at grassroots level, with its network of in-country representatives, enables us to establish genuine community needs, closely monitor the implementation of projects and ensure that funds are properly spent. Wherever possible we work with former AV volunteers who have dedicated time and energy to helping the schools and communities where they spent time as volunteers.

For further information, see www.avfoundation.org

Dare Dave: Good luck with standing on your head on your paddleboard. It could be a maneuver to watch for those alligators near the end of the trip.
