Leonard Cheshire Disability
Leonard Cheshire Disability supports over 21,000 disabled people in the UK and works in 55 countries around the world. We campaign for change and provide innovative services that give disabled people the opportunity to live life their way.
Our services are wide ranging and include day and residential care homes, care at home, resource centres, rehabilitation, respite care and training and assistance for those looking for work. International services include inclusive education for disabled children, training and research to aid recovery in post-conflict and post-disaster countries, and improving access to advice and small business loans.
Campaigning is a very important part of our work. Our Creature Discomforts campaign aims to challenge the way people think about and respond to disability in order to remove the barriers faced by disabled people.

You may wonder why I have chosen Leonard Cheshire as my charity? At the beginning of this adventure, I was trying to decide which of the thousands of charities to support. I have been incredibly lucky and neither myself or any friends have ever needed support from a charitable cause, so i had no personal preferances or experience. Instead I asked a good friend who dealt with many charities through work, and I asked who he would give his money to. Without a second's thought he said "Leonard Cheshire", the money they collect goes exactly where it should, to the thousands of people they support
Leonard Cheshire exists to change attitudes to disability and to serve disabled people around the world. It has been supporting disabled people for almost 60 years and is active in 55 countries. The charity directly supports over 21,000 disabled people in the UK.
