Story
Dear Friends & Family,
EYE FOR INDIA, associated with the Department of Optometry at City University London and the South Woodham Ferrers Rotary Club, is a charitable initiative set up by five Optometry graduates from City University London. EYE FOR INDIA aims to provide optometric care to those who would otherwise not have access to adequate medical care for ocular ailments. This year September 2010, we are visiting Basanti, Sunderban (100km Southeast of Calcutta) for a 2-week period. As our first project, we aim to conduct eye tests, give practical advice and education and dispense refractive corrections to 1,000 underprivileged patients. We are asking for your donationWe have made arrangements with a local manufacturer for the supply of 2,000 pairs of single vision spectacles. With every £2 raised, we can purchase a pair of spectacles to help improve an individual’s lifeOur goal is
ambitious and there is much we would like to accomplish, but without your
support all our aspirations and good intentions may never come to fruition. It
is our hope that your support will allow us to embark on this endeavor and make
a real change in the lives of those who need our help the most.We are
striving to make a difference where it is needed most by lending a helping
hand. In order for many visually impaired people to live normal lives, all that
is required is a pair of spectacles to give them a chance to experience the
world around them. Your donation will bring us closer to providing light where
there was once darkness, and focus to those who see the world shrouded in hazy
blurriness, by bestowing the often taken for granted gift of sight.
