Dear Friends,
I have decided to do Katharine House Hospice's 10.5 miles Midnight Walk on Saturday 9th July 2011. I am appealing to all of you to sponsor me. I don't think I have ever walked that far before! Perhaps I have, since Eurostar dropped me off at Waterloo Station on a cold November 1995 ...
During the last two weeks of Terry's life, we totally relied on the professional care and compassion of this great institution to ease the difficult transition we will all take someday. With this in mind, I am in need of your financial support so they can carry on helping hundreds of people for years to come.
I must confess myself that when all was well, it never occurred to me that we might need the services of a palliative care center as early as we did! This proved to me that life can be very treacherous and we never know who we will turn to for help.
Thank goodness Katharine House's fantastic staff was ready for us and by the grace of God, Terry didn't die riddled with pain on a hospital bed. His passing was actually peaceful and as natural as I could ever have wished for. For that alone, I feel deeply indebted to KHH for the love they have so humbly and unconditionally given us. Thanks also to the friendships I weaved with some of the lovely nurses there, who tirelessly give their heart and soul on a daily basis so the place can run smoothly.
On the 29th April 2011, the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge chose this momentous occasion (at least for me) to celebrate their love. It was also the Big Man's First Anniversary! I don't think he would have objected somehow. Perhaps I should have sent the Royal Couple, a card to express my gratitude. Now it dawns on me that this was perhaps the reason I was not invited to the festivities. Such a shame I could have worn one of Terry's fancy hats, compete with Princess Bea in the fashion stakes, sell it on ebay and give the proceeds to charity! :)
Thank you for your love, support and whatever pennies you can afford to give.
With much loving kindness,
Fabien
PS: Hope you like the picture by the way. I remember him taking me to Tudor on a nice day as well as abroad and everywhere! Where did the last 14 months go?
