Three years on from the 50 mile Round The Bridges cycle challenge and 5 years on from the 70 mile to cycle challenge members of Falkirk Round Table are undertaking a 280 mile cycle challenge from John O’Groats to The Falkirk Wheel.

Scott Cunningham, Phil Lauder, Chas Masterton, Steve Barton, Ross Wilson, Jim Snedden, Donnie McNelis and Martin Burns are undertaking their biggest cycle challenge so far in aid of PSP Association ( Progressive Supranuclear Palsy).

PSP is a fatal neurodegenerative disease estimated to affect over 10000 people in the at any one time. PSP has no gender or race boundaries, although it is unusual for diagnosis below 40. Those affected by PSP will be robbed of the basic every day functions that most of us take for granted. Over time, the disease will affect sight, movement and mobility, speech and the swallowing reflex. In most cases the mind remains unaffected, trapped in a body that will no longer function. Life expectancy from onset of symptoms to death varies from person to person but can be up to 7 years.

Despite this, much can be done to improve the quality of life to those living with PSP, and to support their families and carers during this difficult time. The PSP association provides a range of services to ensure people living with PSP have access to information, care and support that is vital to quality of life. For more information on PSP go to www.pspeur.org.

On behalf of Round Table we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support.

Scott, Phil, Chas, Steve, Ross, Jim, Donnie and Marti.
