UPDATE:  WE DID IT.  What an amazing experience.  One I will never forget.  Thank you and well done to the whole team for being so brave.  And thank you to you for sponsoring us.  Joanne

To mark 25 years of the Born Free Foundation, 25 intrepid Born Free staff and supporters (including a team of friends from Kuoni Travel) are Skydiving to raise £25,000.

The Skydive is planned for September and of course the date is the 25th!

Here are the details of the Fall for Born Free Team so far:

Joanne - Events and Fundraising

I joined Born Free in March and have been throwing myself into my new job, helping support all the events and fundraising in this special 25th anniversary year - I did not realise it would include literally throwing myself out of a plane!

Please go to our website if you want to find out more about us - www.bornfree.org.uk.  Please sponsor us by clicking on the donate now button above.  Thank you.

Claire - Graphic Designer

After 6.5 years of working at Born Free it's my turn to do some fundraising... and I'm jumping out of a plane... and yes I am just a little bit scared!  So please, please sponsor me and the rest of the team.

Chris - Conservation Programmes Officer

I grew up pretty scared of flying, often wishing I could just jump out of any plane I found myself on. Well, now I have the chance to do just that, and suddenly it doesn't seem such an attractive prospect after all! Please give generously to help us Keep Wildlife in the Wild - where it belongs!

Chris - Senior Scientific Researcher

I have been working on captive animal welfare issues at Born Free for 5 years. Only the most worthy cause would get me to don a parachute (and my sturdiest underpants), get into a little plane only to leap out of it! So please give generously!

David - Website

Running the website, I have seen thousands of people raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for Born Free through Justgiving. Now it's great to have the opportunity to do something here myself - even if it means overcoming a bad case of vertigo (although I think that may be the least of my worries).

Daniel - Senior Operations Officer

I've been part of Born Free's Zoo Check team for nine years, working to stop captive animal suffering and phase out zoos. So it's about time I raised some money towards our costs! Born Free challenges the multi-billion pound global zoo industry, fights cruelty, informs decision makers and campaigns for tighter regulations.  Help keep wildlife in the wild by sponsoring our wild fall team!

Lauren  – Marketing Assistant

Why am I jumping out of a plane? Well, it's a great opportunity to raise funds for Born Free, and I get to see my colleagues falling through the sky (never mind that I have to do it too...!) The first point is of course the most important, but the second is a pretty big bonus too!

Shelley - Programmes Manager

Dedicated wildlife rangers across Africa risk their lives every day in order to protect elephants, gorillas and many other animals. Jumping out of a plane is nothing in comparison to the dangers they regularly face. However, for someone with vertigo, jumping out of a plane is still very scary! So please dig deep - Born Free's work is vitally important and your support truly does make a difference.

Stephen - Finance Manager

Having climbed 19,340 ft up Kilamanjaro for Born Free I am hoping that falling two miles will be easier, and certainly a lot quicker.  I'm sure that the feelings of sickness and breathlessness will be just the same, although for completely different reasons!

Antony - Supporter

For most of my life I've been aware of the work of Born Free and I've been very fortunate to have seen some of it first hand. So, to combine my love of animals, plus my wish to put some much needed cash into the Born Free Foundation - I'm terrified but I'm jumping! I'm asking for masses of support from all you generous folk out there to help this great cause. Wish me luck!

Amy - Supporter

I've always admired the hard work and dedication of the Born Free Foundation. A few years ago I worked with orangutans in Borneo. I know the Born Free Foundation has certain projects which work to protect them and this is important to me. I'm very scared about jumping out of a plane so please give generously!

Harriet - Member

After spending some months in Africa I saw for myself how very important and essential the Born Free Foundation's work is in providing a safer and better world for animals. When I returned I decided to do more than just admire what they do by joining the Foundation as a member. I didn't know that would mean throwing myself out of a plane but I'm up for the challenge! Any donation is hugely appreciated.

Sally - Coastal Process Scientist

I'm a keen supporter of Born Free, although not too sure what I have let myself in for but I know it's a very worthy cause! I spent a fabulous two weeks in Kenya with Born Free which included many memorable moments, although I'm not so keen on sharing my tent with a tarantula! Please sponsor us to help keep wildlife in the wild.

Kuoni Travel Skydivers

Karen and Natalie are also part of the Fall for Born Free Team but will be doing their skydive on 29th August!
