My dear friends and family, Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. As you are all aware, my beloved elder sister, Amina Hasan, is due to wed Fahad Mahmood on 3rd July 2011 inshallah. Choosing a charity to raise funds for is never an easy task however this particular charity stood out for me as it provides an array of services for orphan children all over the world. It does not distinguish between a muslim and a non-muslim orphan or between a black and a white orphan. Its mission is simply to provide the basic necessities for orphan children all over the world irrespective of ethnicity, creed or age. I strongly believe it is our duty as human beings to look after the needy, especially those of which are orphan children with no source of income and no one to take care of them. The Holy Qur’an says: "They ask thee, (O Muhammad), what they shall spend. Say: that which ye spend for good (must go) to parents and near kindred and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer. And whatsoever good ye do, lo! Allah is Aware of it" (2:215) All donations will go towards building orphanages and hospitals, delivering emergency aid, supplying clean drinking water and providing orphan children with an education. It is our duty as human beings to do our utmost to help the millions of orphans that have no roof over their head or clean water to drink and by donating whatever you can you will be raising funds for a charity that does exactly that plus more. Both Amina baji and Fahad bhai have talked about their dreams of opening an orphanage one day inshallah and I hope this site takes them one small step closer to achieving that noble dream.
