Story

Hi,

Asalaamu-alykum (May the peace and blessing of God be upon you!),

I'm Farihah Tariq, thank you for visiting my page.  I am climbing Ben Nevis, highest mountain in the UK as part of the Climb for Water Challenge 09 on Saturday 25th July 2009.  Please donate generously towards a great cause.

Info about Ben Nevis:
The summit is 4,408 feet above sea leavel. Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the British Isles, and as such is the major challenge for any UK climber or walker.
There is about 261 full gales per year, and 4,350 mm of rainfall. The AVERAGE temperature at the summit is one degree below freezing and deep snow lies all year in large pockets at the foot of the northern and north east cliffs, and snow can fall in any month of the year. Making Ben Nevis a relatively tough climb. About 4 people die a year on this mountain.  As written earlier I am doing the CLIMB FOR WATER CHALLENGE.

Where will the money go?
Water is the basic liquid of life. However, over one billion people worldwide have no access to safe drinking water, and almost half the world's population lack adequate sanitation.

This affects their health, their environment, their basic dignity and their children's future. For some countries the problem is scarcity of water, while in others water may be plentiful but of poor quality.

* Around 80% of all sickness and disease in the world is caused by inadequate water or sanitation.

* According to the World Health Organisation. Water-related diseases account for 2.2 million deaths each year, mostly among children under the age of five.

* Inadequate water, sanitation and hygiene not only cause sickness and death, but also increase health costs, reduce people's ability to earn a living, and reduce school enrolment rates, especially for girls. Shortages in water can lead to harvest failures and even famine. All these factors combine together to contribute to the continuing cycle of poverty in developing countries.

* By 2025, around two thirds of the world's population will live in areas facing serious water problems.

* Not a religious cause but a humanitarian cause....

 Why Donate:

Allah swt says in Quran: "And whatsoever you spend of anything (in the cause of Allah), He will replace it. He is the Best of those who grants sustenance.”

The best charity is that which continuously benefits people, such as helping to build a school, a clinic, or a water supply system, or helping a poor person start up his own business. This is known as Saqida Jariya. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: “When a person dies, his works end, except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him.” [Muslim, Tirmidhi]. This means that any good you do that benefits people even after you die will count for you.
