The Butterfly Tree supports rural communities, most especially orphans decimated by the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Zambia. We provide safe clean water, feeding programs, health, and education facilities and sustainability. We are all volunteers both in the UK and Zambia, no personal fees are deducted.

Story

Nige and I are raising funds for The Butterfly Tree, a UK charity and NGO in Zambia, which supports rural communities decimated by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Zambia is one of the poorest countries in the world, with two-thirds of the population living on less than 50 pence a day. I have seen first hand the poverty and deprivation, and despite having nothing, they still manage to smile.

Our aim is to cycle from Trafalgar Square, London, to Escucha, Nottingham, leaving at 8am on Sunday 2nd May and hopefully arriving by midnight, just in time to grab a pint, say a few words and collect your donations while we are still standing!

The chosen route is about 260km and after 6 weeks of training, we still have absolutely no idea if we are capable of such a feat, but the effort is being put in, and we will certainly give it our best shot.

All donations received will be used to improve the lives of vulnerable people, who only need the essentials in life - WATER, FOOD, HEALTH & EDUCATION.
