Thank you for visiting our Fat Olives fundraising page:
The May Bank Holiday run completed on Monday 26th seems a distant
memory but despite the very bad weather of heavy rain and strong winds we all completed the course in just under an hour. We were all chuffed to bits as 12,000 people entered the race and only 6,000 took part on the day due to the rain. We received our medals and to-shirts and wore them with pride at the end of the race. (Sorry no pictures as we forgot to take a photo!! it would not have been pretty, just three drowned rats!!)
The Race for Life the weekend after in June - Justine completed in 24 mins
knocking 5 minutes off her time from last year - so well done to Justine. Sadly I did not run this event as I had a knee injury.
Chichester Triathlon was last weekend July 20th - 600m swim, 42km bike ride followed by a 10km run Lawrence completed in an excellent time of 2hr and 40mins - off to a good start with a swim time of 10mins 40secs.
Our last physical event for the year the Great South Run – 10 miles,
we all completed in the times we wanted excellent news. Now to focus on next year – when we now have to beat those times. We would recommend anyone thinking about running the South run to just do it - the atmosphere is just great!!
Thank you to all who sponsored us this year for our above events and
those whohave waved at us around the village whilst we have been
training – you will still continue to see us running around – ready for NEXT YEAR.
Our Cookery Workshops are always a popular event. We have hosted these workshops in aid of Cancer related charities for several years and are always met with enthuasuim and fun from all who participate.
The one held in November was not exception.
Six participants learnt to prepare cook and serve:
Plaice, Pont Neuf, Dill & Prawn Sauce
At lunchtime a guest joins them to sample
their culinary delights.
In total the day raised £520.00 for Cancer research UK.
Thank you for all those who show an interest in our workshops and all our participants and enthusiastic cooks.
Our next workshop will be held on Sunday 22nd February 2009.
