In August 2007 our beautiful baby boy, Fraser, unfortunately contacted meningococcal scepticaemia. It was a shock to everyone. We all know about it, but its something that never happens to you.
Fraser woke up in the middle of the night with the dreaded rash we so often hear about. After being rushed to hospital and with the disease progressing rapidly time was not on our side. Lucky for us Fraser was a true wee fighter and there was no way he was going anywhere. After coming off his ventilator within 24 hours he started to respond very well to treatment. He spent one week in intensive care, two weeks in total in hospital and a further week at home in plaster. His recovery has been amazing and more than we could ever have prayed for. The future looks bright for Fraser and he is thriving every day.
This brings us to where we are now. Raising money for Yorkhill Hospital. I am not sure how to put it into words how we feel about the staff that saved Fraser's life. I have thought about it a million times and still words fail me, but I do know we are eternally grateful to all who helped with Fraser's treatment and recovery.
We hope by raising money for Yorkhill Children's Foundation we can help other families who find themselves in a similar situation.
