On the 11th June 2010, The Fell Guys are going to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge in aid of the Teanage Cancer Trust, Addenbrookes unit in Cambridge.
The National Three Peaks Challenge is a mountain-endurance challenge in Great Britain, in which participants attempt to climb the highest peaks of each of the island's three countries.
The mountains climbed, in order of elevation, are Ben Nevis in Western Scotland, 1,344 metres (4,409 ft), Snowdon in North Wales, 1,085 metres (3,560 ft), and Scafell Pike in North-Western England, 978 metres (3,209 ft). In all the challenge involves some 42 kilometres (26 mi) of ascent and descent, with total travel approaching 765 kilometres (475 mi).
The Fell Guys are a motley crew of individuals based in and around Cambridge there are eight of us in total including our driver. These are Martin Simpson, Dan Brown, Stuart Slade, Graham Ayres, Will Shepherd, Gary Sheldrick, Tracy Wright and Adi White. We have climbed a few mountains before, completing as a group, Scafell pike at night and Snowdon via Crib Goch, but this is by far our biggest challenge.
3 Mountains, 3 Countries, 8 Men, 1 Day.
