My story

                 4 hours, 13 minutes, 25 seconds.

                              Job done!

Over £5,000 raised -  thank you all so much!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I'm running a marathon for the very first time to raise money for the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (www.chect.org.uk), which helps to raise awareness of this heartbreaking illness and supports families who are afflicted by it.

I'm doing this for two dear friends of mine whose child has suffered from retinoblastoma for some time now, has already lost an eye and is currently undergoing chemotherapy to save the other one. CHECT helps them through the emotional rollercoaster and also funds vital research into the disease.

Retinoblastoma affects children under 5 and, if not detected early enough, can result in children requiring the removal of an eye. Currently, 85% of children with non-hereidtary eye cancer need to have the eye removed as a form of treatment.

The money we raise will fund awareness information that will go into every Bounty Pregnancy Club Information pack, which is distributed to 718,000 new mums each year. The aim is to help parents recognise the symptoms; accelerate diagnosis and sight-saving treatment; and reduce the number of eye removals caused by late diagnosis. I can't think of a more deserving cause.

People have already been fantastically generous, but please continue to do all you can to support CHECT in the fantastic work that they do.

Special thanks to Hartley Wintney Cricket Club, Traditional Furnishings, Lorica Consulting, Brian Clisby Antique Clocks, the Pour House Brasserie, Porters the Jewellers and to Paramount Pools of Hartley Wintney for their kind donations! Also warm thanks to Ron Scudder for his milkround publicity and all who donated. Hugs to everyone at the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital for their brilliant generosity!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CHECT will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, extra tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you!!!

Many, many thanks for your support.
