Based in Manchester, MedEquip4Kids improves the health of babies and children in the UK by providing equipment not available from limited NHS resources. Because we value all aspects of children’s wellbeing, we also deliver workshops in schools to support young people’s mental health.

Story

I am raising money in memory of my precious daughter Yasmin, who fought so hard to stay alive for 11 years.

The charities I am supporting are MedEquip4Kids, who work along side the medical and ambulance staff to provide much needed equipment for for ill and injured children. Also Childrens Hospice SW, which you can donate to by following this link, www.justgiving.com/yasmin-tribute

Yasmin spent all her short life in and out of hospitals, for weeks, even months at a time. Away from family ,friends, pets, toys and everything she loved.

For this reason my main aim was to get her home as soon as possible, the hospital taught me how to use the pumps and give all her drugs, to keep her alive.

Yasmin eventually gave up her fight for life in June 2004. Since then I have climbed errupting volcanos, been cut off by snow blizzards in the High Atlas Mountains, raising £15,000 for the childrens hospice SW, who supported us for 9 years.

This time I was going to the Sinai desert but due to the problems in Egypt , have changed the trek.

Then I was trekking for 5 days, across ridges and Glaciers in the Pyrenees mountains but this got cancelled.

So now I am trekking for 6 days, for up to 12 hours a day, along steep, remote mountain trails to Machu Picchu in Peru, sleeping in tents and climbing to altitudes of up to 4200m.

I cant begin to describe what life is like caring for a child who is in pain and frightened, watching them go through so many proceedures, knowing you could loose them any day.

Now I am looking in from the outside, watching others in that same nightmare. I know I can make a difference, even if it is just to provide a pump so a child can get home, to their brothers and sisters and the safety of their own bed.

Thankyou to anyone who has supported me in the past, we did a good job. Please help me once again to give a little, that means so much to these children.

I will keep you updated on events I will do in the next few months.

My target is £1000 by July, for each of the charities.

I know I can do it with your continual support.

Thankyou

            Fiona
