Sony Ericsson Run to the Beat Half Marathon 2009 · 27 September 2009 ·

We understand that navigating the complexities of limb loss and limb difference can be completely overwhelming. We provide excellent, FREE, accessible information and advice to empower all amputees and those with limb difference, and families and friends, to lead independent and fulfilled lives.

Story

Hello!  Thank you so much for sponsoring us to take part in Run to the Beat, London’s half marathon on Sunday 27 September.  We are running in Sarah Hope’s team, raising money for the Limbless Association, a charity that provides information, support and advice for the limb-loss community in the UK, as well as providing better access to artificial limbs in the developing world.

We have been inspired by Sarah Hope’s amazing energy and positive spirit in dealing with the outcome of a tragic bus accident that took place in the heart of our local area of Barnes, Mortlake and East Sheen in London in April 2007.  Sarah’s mother, Elizabeth died in the crash and Pollyanna, her youngest daughter (who was just 2½ at the time) had to have a leg amputated.  Sarah too suffered major injuries to her left leg, from which she is still recovering.

This shocking accident had a deep impact on our close school community at Barnes Primary School, which Sarah’s two older children, Sapphire and Barnaby, attended at the time. Pollyanna was fitted with an artificial limb following the accident. Today she is an extraordinarily brave and energetic little girl, who is doing well at her new school and is excelling at PE.

Please help us raise money to give children and adults in developing countries better access to artificial limbs, and give them hope too.

Please support us in doing the half marathon, and in supporting the work of the Limbless Association.

Thank you!
