<p>Thanks for visiting my Justgiving donations page! </p>
<p>I have decided this year to give up <span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>facebook</strong></span> for Lent, which starts on Wednesday 22nd February 2012 and finishes on Sunday 8th April - a period of 46 days - to raise funds in support of Yeldall Manor, a local Christian rehabilitation centre for men struggling with long-term serious substance misuse.</p>
<p>As a former staff member, the work continues to be close to my heart and the joy of seeing lives turned around is indescribable.</p>
<p>Those of you who know me well will know that, because I work a lot on my own, facebook has become a portal to people. Giving it up will not be easy and cuts off a social network.</p>
<p>So why? Why would I do this?</p>
<p>Some of my facebook friends are previous residents of Yeldall Manor and have already turned away from serious addictions to drugs and/or alcohol. This year's fast from <span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>facebook</strong></span> is my way of demonstrating, by my actions, just how much I respect and admire them for taking hard steps to transform their lives.</p>
<p><span>Still more </span><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>facebook</strong></span><span> friends work and support Yeldall Manor in different ways, so this is also intended to demonstrate that, even though I no longer work with them, I support and stand alongside them. </span></p>
<p>So, please, help me with this effort and donate some much appreciated funds. </p>
