STOP PRESS!!!
Well............I am back! Achieved the goal not only of base camp (5,300mt) but also managed to reach Kalapatthar (5,600mt) with many a struggle for breath. Awesome views of Everest and an overall awesome experience. As a group we are hoping to reach £70k (!!) so if you feel you would like to still sponsor, please do as it is for a very worthy cause. We are so proud of our achievements for the charity - especially as we had live link up on Nov 6th from near base camp with Meridien TV and the Chichester Observer. Will update photos every now and again - see this one of fellow team member Garry and I at base camp in front of famous Khumba Ice Fall. Thank-you all for sponsoring me - Love you all

Well, friends, I have decided to trek to the base camp of Everest in support of this fabulous charity for terminally ill children. I am starting to train up the old legs and reckon, due to them being old, that it is not going to be an easy task.
April/May/June: Some of you may already be aware that I have had to succumb to reconstructive surgery on my hamstring - blooming thing snapped skiing off-piste in Verbier - jolly unfortunate. Two steps back you might say but all that it means is that I will make even more effort to go several steps forward when I am "up and running" in time for October 25th.
July: After a few setbacks with infections and deadly drugs to match, the brace and crutches are off
and I start in the gym to get strengthened up, with some mega physiotherapy, courtesy of Natasha. Nice to be able to have a full shower too (!!) but we won't go there...
August- dancing already ....With the kind efforts of Robin Staal, a college buddy of mine, we held a Rock Concert on 30th August 2008 in Richmond. The music was awesome and fun was had by all - we even had Marco play the preview of the Dreams Come True song, which he has written and is producing with Dream children in time to be launched nationally to top the charts at Christmas time - fingers crossed!
September - training is getting harder as hamstring getting stronger so no excuses now! Boots are getting broken in.... Getting time in the gym and swimming when possible - in the Gulf (where I am working part time) would be good but don't seem to be getting the chance - however, swimming pools seem to work just as well.
October - final push coming up! Went to the Welsh "mountains" in Brecon Beasons over the weekend - boots are broken in - no blisters so far and they loved the low cloud! Hopefully the view will be better in Nepal.... Have meds for blisters just in case though, kindly supplied by my friend John who has done Kilimanjaro - thanks John! Still need to buy some decent trousers and a back pack, but bought the socks.. Another friend has offered to lend me a GPS - as long as it is not too heavy!
By the way, you can track our Trek on http://live.adventuretracking.com/truenepal but not yet....wait until we start (probably be around 28th Oct). Anyway, gearing up to leave on 25th - looking forward to the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla - check it out on youtube - awesome! Getting nervous abou the altitude sickness thing tho'...
Thank-you for visiting my site - please dig deep -donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. Dreams Come True Charity will receive your money directly and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you and you can even claim tax relief.
Many thanks for your support.
