On Saturday 16th June my eldest daughter Lizzie and I will be abseiling 50m (164 ft) down a cliff in Avon Gorge, Bristol in aid of Bristol Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).

When my youngest daughter Hannah was born with serious breathing difficulties, the room suddenly filled with specialists who rushed her off to the neonatal intensive care unit. My husband and I were left wondering whether those were the only few minutes we would ever spend with our precious daughter. That was when I learnt to appreciate just how much these specialist units mean to people like my husband and I. The care and professionalism shown was just what we needed to see us through what was a traumatic time for us.

Special Care Baby Units, especially this our nearest one in Bristol, have also blessed the lives of several of my good friends and their children. This charity therefore really means a lot to me and your donation will help Bristol SCBU continue their fantastic work. Above and Beyond are the charity set up to raise money for all the Bristol Hospitals including the Bristol SCBU. All your donations will be going specifically to the Special Care Baby Unit.
