I've decided to run the Nottingham marathon in September (or the Experian Robin Hood Festival of Running as it officially calls itself - no delusions of grandeur there...). This is going to be my first full marathon so is going to be a bit of a challenge (those of you who sponsored me for my first half-marathon last year will know that I only took up running about 18 months ago). I thought that if I was going to put myself through that much pain, I might as well raise some money for charity while I was at it so that someone benefits! And it will be an extra incentive for me to get out of bed when I'm doing yet another 5.30am run...
I'm going to run the marathon on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support(*), and it would be fantastic if you could sponsor me. I've paid for the marathon place myself so all money raised will go to the charity. Macmillan provide practical, emotional, and financial support to people with cancer, their carers and families. This could include anything from supporting people through the system, providing financial advice and help with bills, providing nursing care, or offering advice and emotional support. They can really make a difference at such a difficult time in people's lives.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
I'd be really grateful for any donation you could give.
Many thanks,
Fiona xx
*I am slightly concerned that the combination of Macmillan's bright green t-shirt and my bright red face might make me look like a traffic light by the end of the race (I just need an amber scarf to complete the look...), but have decided not to let such sartorial considerations put me off!
