Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

Here I am, setting myself another challenge from the 6th to the 13th October 2012. This time, it's the Sahara Desert Trek in aid of St Peter and St James Hospice and Continuing Care Centre. After the trek, I am going to stay a bit longer in Marrakech to help refurbish, paint, and garden in the local hospice.

I have chosen to support this charity through this once in a lifetime trek for a number of reasons. Firstly, the hospice provides a service that enables those living with progressive, life limiting illnesses from East and West Sussex to be cared for in a comfortable and compassionate environment. These people are not only the patients, but the carers, families and friends of those individuals. Secondly, only 17% of their funding is provided by the government and the rest is generated from their own - and the publics - fundraising. This means they need to raise more than £1.8million every year through fundraising to keep it running. Thats about £5,000 every single day.

I really believe in the hospice and the service it provides. I would be so grateful for any donation no matter how big or small to help me on my jourey through the Sahara.

Here's how you can donate:

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you,
