Story
26th October Race Day!
Woke 5:10am, Left home 6:00, collected a friend, and reached the start 6:50, Race started 7:20. Paul arrived 7:45 to take photos of us on the route and at the finish. Met quite a few people I know on the way, and made a new friend. Weather humid and overcast, then breezy, then spitting (Paul got a downpour but we didn't) , then hot sun, then cloudy again!
Finished in 1:59:50!!!!!
Ten seconds under two hours. Really pleased. Encouraged on the way to keep trying by all the people who have helped raise such a lot of money.
24th October - Can't beleive it we've reached the first target already!! Well done everybody. So the target is now officially raised to £585.
On 26th October I will be running 21km in the Standard Chartered Nairobi marathon, to raise funds for MAF Kenya during this difficult time of high fuel prices and high food prices.
Let's try and raise enough to subsidise a MAF aircraft (a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan) for 21km, since I will be running 21km.
It costs approximately £117 for 21km, so the first target will be £350 for 3 times 21km.
If we do really well, who knows we could even aim for £585 for 5 times 21km.
19 October - last week twenty of us did a training run and raised funds for charity at the same time. We ran during a Fun Day at a local Boys home and were able to give them a donation at the same time.
Thanks Eileen, yes it may be tougher than the Great North Run (we start at 7 before it gets too hot), but the same great atmosphere!
If you would like to sponsor me, either send direct to MAF or sign up below. Gift Aid can be claimed both ways if you are a UK tax payer, and using Justgiving is totally secure.
