Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It's now that time of year again, the time when most of us are beginning to make plans for Christmas such as what presents to buy and where to spend Christmas day. For most of us the festive season is a happy time, one when we look forward to spending time with family and friends.
This Christmas we ask that you remember those people for whom Chritsmas is not such a happy time. For homeless people it can be a time of extreme loneliness and isolation. There are many reasons why people become homeless; leaving care or the army, mental health problems, abuse, marriage breakdown, losing employment or house reposession. Whatever the reason, Christmas will be a difficult time of the year to get through.
First Base Day Centre is the only service for homeless men and women in the City to remain open over Christmas and the New Year period. We understand the importance of providing company and a warm, safe place for people to spend Christmas. We decorate the centre and provide a traditional Christmas dinner for over 100 people. We also provide a cooked breakfast on Christmas morning, for people who have literally nowhere to go and no one to spend Christmas with.
Throughout the year, First Base provides a comprehensive range of services to homeless and insecurely housed men and women such as food , clothing, housing and health advice and training and employment opportunities. Our focus is on providing services to move on from homelessness to healthy, happy and independent lives.
This year, we are asking for a one off, small donation to First Base Day Centre. Your donation will help to make the festive period a bearable one for hundreds of homeless, insecurely housed and vulnerable men and women who would otherwise be alone this Christmas.
Thank you.
