Story

First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to visit our donation page.

The best way we can emphasise the importance of the cause we are supporting, is in our own words first of all. Each and every penny towards this worthy charity is put to full use. The official blurb from Mercy Corps Mongolia follows below, but first let us brief you on our expedition.

Benjamin Curwood and David Staffell head off on July 21st 2007 from Hyde Park, London on an intrepid journey of 10,000 miles to reach the capital of Mongolia, Ulaan Baatar. We will do so using a car of no more than 1000cc (to make it that bit more challenging) and will travel through countries such as France, Germany and the Ukraine, to Russia, Khazakstan, Uzbekistan and of course Mongolia and more!!

The importance of this 'event' is not, however, our journey, but what it represents and by doing so, who will benefit. It just so happens we may well have a great time doing it in the process!

Mercy Corps Scotland is the Headquarters for a far reaching charity, and this particular branch reaches are far as Mongolia. Every penny donated on this page heads straight over to Mongolia and those people that need our help.

By donating on this page, you are contributing to a number of amazing projects across Mongolia. Mercy Corps Mongolia supports rural communities to meet their economic and social needs, helping individuals, families and communities to become more self-sufficient, diversified in their production , and better linked to local, regional and national markets. Over the past five years Mercy Corps Mongolia has established a stong reputation across the vast Gobi region, and continues to work with business associations and local organisations to ensure a robust economy that preserves ancient tradtions.

Currently they run the following projects in Mongolia: Gobi Regional Economic Growth Initiatives (Gobi Initiative), Gobi Forage, Rural Agribusiness Support Program (RASP) and the Training, Advocacy and Networking Programme.

We are also supporting Hope and Homes for Children, however we can only have donations for one charity per page. Please follow the link below, should you prefer to donate to that cause instead (or as well!)

Many thanks for all your support and we welcome any questions, or donations of bits and pieces that will help us complete our journey, from tents, car parts to gloves or toothbrushes! ('',)

Thanking you in advance once again for your support.

Best wishes,

Benjamin & David
