Story
In 1983 my father passed away after a short battle with cancer aged 48. Since this, tragic day in my life I have been aware of what devastation this illness can bring to families.
I’ve always made it a priority to contribute to McMillan, cancer research and other related charities.
I consider myself lucky to have found the music of Mostly Autumn. Their music tackles all aspects of life and death and natural beauty and disaster. Through my link with the band I met Howard Sparnenn on a number of occasions and had the privilege to share a drink with him.
He had an infectious fun loving nature, and a zest for life.
For some time I have planned a fundraising bike ride for a charity which I considered to be close to my heart. I think Andrea’s Gift ticks all the boxes. With the link of the devastating illness, the close-knit friendly group of people that surrounded Howard and the music of the related bands that I love so much, I consider this to be a worthy cause.
I will be tackling a 40-mile cycle ride through the Lady Bower region of the Peak District. Any one wishing to join me is more than welcome.
The ride will take place on the 3rd May the day of the Night for Heroes gig in York.
