Update - Lizzie and Neil are both home safe and sound. Lizzie cycled 400 miles to Bordeaux, loved every minute of it and wishes she could have gone on to do the whole 1300 miles. However, she came home to start college, which she is now thoroughly enjoying.
Neil cycled the full 1300 miles to Gibraltar. He rode through some stunning scenery, often in temperatures of up to 49 degrees! and as you can imagine, has some funny (and painful) stories to tell!
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has made a donation and we are thrilled to have passed our target by over 50%!
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!
On Saturday 4 September 2010, Neil and Lizzie Flesher will be taking part in an epic cycling trip in aid of Cancer Research UK. Starting in Winchester, they will cycle to Portsmouth and catch a ferry to France. From there they will cycle together as far as Bordeaux (400 miles in 4 days) where Lizzie will need to fly home to start her A Level studies at Peter Symonds College, and Neil will carry on, covering a total of 1,250 miles, over two weeks, until he reaches Gibraltar.
Sadly, most of our lives have been touched by cancer in one way or another and Neil and Lizzie will be embarking on this journey in memory of Rod; Neil’s Dad and Tony; Kate’s brother, both of whom died in their late 40s from cancer. Rod and Tony will never be far from their thoughts as they cycle and will be the driving force to keep those legs pumping!
Neil and Lizzie would really appreciate any sponsors (no matter how small) for this incredibly worthwhile cause. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and any donation you are able to make really will help to make a difference.
