Florence Marathon · 29 November 2009

We believe decent homes are the heartbeat of strong communities and so we also fight for land rights for women, upgrade urban slums and informal settlements, improve access to water and sanitation, and help communities become more resilient in the face of natural disasters.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On November 29th I will be taking part in the Florence Marathon to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, non-denominational housing charity whose goal is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness around the world.

In May this year, I was member of a group which visited Mozambique to build houses on behalf of habitat for humanity.   Whilst there we helped build 4 houses to which one of them I have attached a picture above.  These homes whilst they are incredibly small & having to house 8 people are a big improvement over their previous living conditions.  Despite their tough background they were incredibly welcoming and very thankful for their new homes.

Each home costs only £700 to build with most of the money going towards a team of builders as well as supplies from all from the local area.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
