As you know jonathan and i are expecting our first bambino in november.
At our 20 week scan our baby was diagnosed with a heart defect, we had no idea what this meant and so thinking the worst we found out the sex of our little bundle! Bopping Baby Boy!!
We were urgently reffered to the fetal medicine unit at St Michaels hospital in Bristol, where baby flynn was diagnosed with coarctation of the aorta, and more recently a narrowing of the aortic valve. Flynn now has a 20% chance of developing a severe condition of Hypoplastic left heart syndrome, his condition is being monitored every 3 weeks and we know he will have heart surgery of some kind in the first week of his precious life. He will spend his first part of life recovering in intensive care giving him the best chance possible for the future.
Charities such as The SouthWest Childrens Heart Circle help make ours, many other families and the childrens lives so much easier coping with the stress, heart ache, and financial implications of coping with a child or children with a heart condition.
They help provide financial assistance to equipment which is sometimes not funded on the nhs, they provide a holiday caravan close to the hospital for those children who need the hospitals support.
We can't thank Bristol enough for their support, expertise and the confidence they have given us in the care of flynn.
We want to help put back into this care. Next year when things have settled jon and i plan on organising some sponsored events so keep a watch out!!
