We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

On Sunday May 8th, our intrepid band of marchers successfully completed the 14KM march to the Fontenoy battlefield. One or 2 of our German friends suffered a bit, but the majority of us managed to complete the distance.

Just to recap, In 1745, The French army invaded the Austrian Netherlands (modern day Belgium) and laid siege to the town of Tournai.
In May 2005, along with some intrepid colleagues, I retraced the route of King Louis XV's army from their positions before Tournai to Fontenoy, site of the famous battle of 11th May 1745. Never heard of it ? Maybe that's because the Brits lost ! We covered the 14KM on foot and in the uniforms of the period. So no air cushioned footwear, Goretex jackets and ergonomic rucksacs!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leukaemia Research Fund will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support. David Wilton.
