On the 18th June 2011 starting at 8am, eight intrepid cyclists - all members of the Friends of Lichfield Cathedral - will attempt to cycle 314 miles, the distance from Lindisfarne to Lichfield via Lastingham and York. This will be a static cycle ride at the West Front of the Cathedral in aid of the East End Appeal.
Cyclists taking part include Chris Craddock (Head Verger), Rosanne Wilshire, Cheryl Baxter and Helen Betts (Friends of Lichfield Cathedral), and Bryan Ramsell (Lay Member of Chapter). Tony Thompson, Cathedral Head Steward, will also be taking part.
The route planned by the cyclists takes them on a virtual journey to places of significance in the life of St Chad, Patron Saint of Lichfield Cathedral.
The riders will be encouraged on their way by Lichfield Cathedral's 'Young Voices', who will be singing outside the Cathedral from 10:30 - 11:30am on the day.
