Story
Hi Everyone,
Thanks so much for looking at my mummy's site.
Well Daddy did it in 2006, and now its my mummy's turn! ...yep she's running the London Marathon! can you belive it?
My name is Hollie, im 3 years old, and have got epidermolysis bullosa, or EB for short. Basiclly the glue that holds my skin on to my body is missing, so if I get friction on my skin it will blister or if i get knocked my skin can sometimes come straight off which hurts a lot. Mum and Dad have to put dressings on my skin to cover blisters that have to be popped, and i also have them on for protection.
I love to run around and jump on my trampoline, but all i get is constant nagging from Mum, Dad and my carers' at nursery to slow down so i dont hurt myself. My friends at nursery also have to be really careful around me because they can hurt me if they brush past me. I would love to one day run around with my friends and play fight with my baby brother without getting hurt.
EB dosent just effect my body, it also effects me when I eat and brush my teeth, when I eat it can cause blisters on my gums, tongue and down my throat, so i have to stay away from some yummy treats as i have to eat soft food instead. I had to have 12 teeth taken out the other day due to my condition, but i did get lots of lovely money from the tooth fairy that night!!
. only thing is now it's now going to be even harder for me to eat with my fragile gums.
I don't know how this condtion will effect me when I get older, we dont know if i'll have to have a tube in my tummy so i can eat, or wether or not i'll need a wheelchair for when my feet hurt.
My Mum and Dad went to the DebRA AGM meeting not so long ago, and all the very clever doctors told us about a man in Italy, he had some geneticaly modified skin grafts put on his hands. a year has now past and his skin is normal! he does not blister and its as strong as your skin!
so if you sponcer my mummy you know its going to a great cause thats nearly got the cure! Plus back in January my mum couldn't run for more that 30 seconds, and if you saw her now you'd be gobsmaked! it's worth giving money just to watch her run 26.2 miles! ha ha
Thank you soooooooo much for sponcering, when you donate the money goes straight to Debra
