Story

                                                   MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

What a fantastic day!  Sun was shining and the atmosphere was electric.  Nerves were getting the better of me just before the run started but once the gun went off, so did I.  Unfortunately, I went a bit too fast at the start and ended up with a stitch for the first seven miles which didn't help, but then it dissappeared and I was on a high.   9 miles came and the mind started to tell me I wasn't going to do it, but thankfully that passed.  I hit the 12 mile and thought great not long now, but then it seemed to go on and on and on and that extra mile compared to what I was used to running was a real test, but I kept saying to myself "mum I'll go the extra mile for you" and it give me the determination to go on.  Finish line in sight I ran over with a real sense of pride although concentrating on the finishing line I forgot to look at the 2 massive clocks to the side to see what my time was, but I have since found out if was 2hours 18 minutes, not bad even though I say so myself.

Donations have been fantastic and the current total is at £1040.00 with still a few more to come in.  Most importantly, the target was achieved and on Mother's Day, which was even bettter.

Now I would like to take this opportunity to say a few thank yous!  To my lovely husband for supporting me, helping me with my training and doing the run on the day at a much slower speed just to stay with me and help me along, you really are a star.  To Angela, who very kindly put an article in the local parish magazine, which helped to generate more sponsorship and to each and everyone one of you who sponsored me to help me achieve the dream and for all your emails, texts, cards etc to encourage and support me, thank you so much.

One final word of thanks, is for my lovely mum for all the love and encouragement over the years, and who hekped make me who I am today.  Through her,  money has been raised for a very worthwhile cause and not only that, she continues to give me strength and encouragement.  She has also helped me to realise that even if we are frightened of doing something, just go for it, we might just surprise ourselves..  "Thanks Mum - we did it together! xx"
