I had such a brilliant time running the marathon last year that I signed up again.  Then won a ballot place.  Then won a fabulous competition through Runners World to be trained by professionals.  I'm still pinching myself.

I'm working hard at training, pushing myself harder than ever before and absolutely loving it.  I'm lucky to have such brilliant support - I really need it!  So far I've run a 10k race, 3 minutes faster than my best estimate, knocked 9 minutes off my previous best half marathon time and am running for 3 hours each weekend and still feel like I'm improving all the time.  Who would have thought it?

I'm aiming to knock more than 38 minutes off last year's marathon time, running with my friend Alison and raising money for Livability.  They are an excellent charity, working with people with disabilities to help them lead fulfilling lives.  Both they and I appreciate all your donations, no matter how big or small.

Livability creates choices for disabled people and brings life to local communities. We offer a wide range of services to around 8,000 disabled people and their families, including residential care, supported living, education and accessible holidays. We also provide churches with the resources, advice and confidence to transform their neighbourhoods. Livability is a new charity, created by the merger of John Grooms and the Shaftesbury Society, two charities which have been hard at work among the UK's most marginalised people for over 160 years.
