Here's some facts that might be of interest:

The yacht is 12.2m (40ft) long, 4.5m wide with a draft of 3m. Normally called Cariberia, it has been renamed ORBIS for the race.

The total weight of the yacht is around 5200kg and can reach speeds in excess of 26kts.

 

The crew will be Shaun Murphy of Siemens and Stephen Card of SLC Associates.  The normal pattern of work is 3 hours on and 3 hours off, 24 hours a day.

 

The race is known as ‘La Solidaire du Chocolat’ and starts on 18th Ocotober.

 

It is over 5,000 nautical miles between St Nazaire in France and Progresso in Mexico and will take between 26 and 33 days.
