Last year just before Christmas Tom and I decided to combine our weekend walks with doing something good to brighten up the grey November days. So off we went to the Bath Cats and Dogs Home to do some Dogwalking.

Tom really wanted to walk a German Shepard type dog, instead, we were introduced to Fizz, who had only just arrived at the Home and was really quite frightened but apparently absolutely wonderful. It didn't take us long to totally fall in love with her. She's got the most amazing deep eyes and is so appreciative of some TLC. We walked her religiously every Saturday and Sunday for about six weeks. Before long we started to seriously talk about adopting her. It just became too painful to drop her off again after the walk. We finally took her home at the end of January following a few letters and begging notes to landlord and fellow tenants. There is no doubt that it was the best thing we've ever done.

Anyone of you who has met Fizz will know what a great character she is and how lucky we are to have her with us. She is the reason why I want to do something to help the Bath Cats and Dogs Home to rescue other animals and give them a chance for a happy ending.

You might not be aware of the fact that the Bath Cats and Dogs Home relies heavily on our generosity to provide care and support for unwanted animals. Although the Cats and Dogs Home is affiliated to the national RSPCA, the home does not receive financial support from them for its daily running costs, which are in excess of £3,000 a day.
