Welcome to my fund raising page.  You will see that on the 9 December 2007 I was part of a team called “Freddie's Fools” that peered nervously over the parapet above Level 7 of the Bristol Children’s Hospital, in preparation to abseil down. Thankfully I was joined by Charlotte and Emily Rowe, as well as Hannah Smith (all from Paignton).

Since starting this site, to date, nearly £1500.00 has been raised by the four of us and that is wonderful.  It is great to know that whilst Fred is no longer with us, he is managing (from above) to encourage people to donate their hard earned money so as to help others in the future and that really helps us - his mum, dad, family and friends.

The abseil went ahead despite the weather being of high winds and heavy rain.  Once in Bristol the wall we abseiled down was quite sheltered and so actually was quite enjoyable.  104 other people took part and the amount raised was, I think, in the region of £20,000.00

Some will remember the 'blog I used to keep that went "off air" after some maintenance by the company that hosted it.  I have recreated it on the following link:          http://freddiewills.blogspot.com

CLIC helped us enormously immediately after our three month old baby boy Freddie was diagnosed with an acute form of leukaemia and so we lived in Bristol for nearly ten months whilst Freddie was being treated.  CLIC provided us with accommodation at no cost for as long as we needed it. This meant that we did not have an additional worry of how to find extra living and travelling costs and this made such a difference, allowing us to be with Freddie day and night.

Unfortunately the chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant were not successful and Freddie died peacefully in Rachel's arms on the 2 May 2007, aged 13 months.

CLIC have continued to help us since then, and so this is a way for us to continue to say “thank you” to all who helped us.  There are huge costs involved for them to keep the houses going and every donation means that it goes towards helping people like us who get that devastating news which changes everything in an instant.  It does not have to be a large amount to keep things going for them either.

By donating via this site it means that CLIC Sargent gets the money quickly, and is a safe and secure way of donating.  Also, if you are a UK tax payer the charity can receive a further 28% by through Gift Aid.
